Welcome to another issue on the exciting adventures of Audi Centre Melbourne.
With September being the month of the Spring Open Haus, our dealership was extremely busy getting customers on the road to enjoy the benefits of free registration and stamp duty.
This month I also had the pleasure of attending the Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation official partnership signing ceremony with Lord Mayor John So and Joerg Hofmann, Managing Director of Audi Australia. To celebrate this wonderful occasion, I hosted a table at the Heart of Melbourne Charity Ball at the Regent Theatre.
September is always a favourite month for our customers with the Audi ‘quattro’ Drive Experience Day at Sandown Raceway. This day was another success leaving our customers with lasting impressions of the capabilities and safety features of their vehicles.
I would like to congratulate Peter Lock and Lou Komis on their efforts in representing Audi Centre Melbourne at the Audi golf tournament at Hunter Valley.

On Monday 22nd September, Audi Centre Melbourne had the pleasure of taking a group of customers to experience the ultimate in driving pleasure, at Sandown Raceway.
The day was hosted by Audi Ambassador and former Audi Super Touring Car Champion, Brad Jones, and his team of experienced drivers.
Guests had the privilege of experiencing the capabilities of a wide cross-section of Audi’s famed ‘quattro’ all wheel drive sports vehicles, including the breathtaking RS4, and the potent range of S-models featuring the S6 and S8.
The A5 and Audi’s world-beating latest technology diesels including the A6 3.0 TDI and A8 4.2 TDI, as well as the TT Coupe and the all new Audi A4 were all on-hand.
A fantastic time was had by all and we are looking forward to doing it all again soon!

Audi Australia recently announced a major corporate partnership with the Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation.
The LMCF supports over 400 charities throughout Victoria and has been in operation for 85 years.
Managing Director of Audi Australia, Joerg Hofmann, said the partnership comes as Audi continues to strengthen its corporate profile and philanthropic standing within the Melbourne business community.
“The work of the Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation, particularly its numerous initiatives that support Victoria’s homeless, is important and admirable,” said Hofmann.
“As the fastest growing luxury automotive brand in Melbourne, Audi and our Victorian Dealer Group, are enthusiastic about the new partnership as it gives us the opportunity to invest back into the community which has supported the growth of our brand.”
Audi Australia will loan the LMCF an Audi A3 to support the administration area of the Foundation in its work.
Audi Australia also donated a once in a lifetime Audi Le Mans Experience to the auction at the Heart of Melbourne Ball held on the 13th September.

The successful bidder enjoyed a business class trip for two to join Audi, the reigning champions, at their extensive on track hospitality facilities at the 2009 24 Hours of Le Mans race.
As a result of this new corporate partnership, Audi Centre Melbourne will also become directly involved in the fundraising initiatives of the LMCF.

Last month we introduced you to the latest member to join the Audi Centre Melbourne fleet – our 49’ CORBY IRC 1 GRAND PRIX RACE SAILING YACHT, called Audi Centre Melbourne.
Audi Centre Melbourne has taken to the seas in conjunction with the Flirt Sailing Team and we are thrilled by its progress so far.

Malcolm Page won the Gold Medal
in the Men’s 470 Class at the 2008
Beijing Olympic Games with an
extended lead of 22 points.

In the Women’s 470 class, Perthbased
Elise Rechichi and Tessa
Parkinson also secured the
ultimate prize with a win of 18
points. The Perth women, who
are the youngest crew in the
Australian Sailing Team at 22 and
21, played a safe race, keeping a
close eye on their biggest threat,
The Netherlands, throughout.
Both medal races were sailed on
Monday 18 August 2008.
Glenn Ashby and Darren Bundock
will come home with a silver medal
in the mens tornado class, just
behind Spain who won the gold
medal. It is the second Olympic
Silver medal for Darren Bundock,
who won his first medal at the
Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, and
the first medal for Glenn Ashby.
Before the team left for China,
Audi’s managing director, Joerg
Hofmann, announced that Audi
would provide drive cars for any
gold-medal-winning sailors as
part of the brand’s support for

Audi Australia launched its newest addition
to the popular A3 range – the all-new A3
Cabriolet on 24 -
25 July.
The new model was introduced to top
national motoring media in Port Douglas,
Far North QLD, where the weather was
warmest to ensure that the car could be
tested with the roof down! The test-drive
was spectacular along the scenic coast and
inland through the mountains – perfect for
drop-top motoring.

At launch, the A3 Cabriolet range featured
two sporty, yet economical engines
including a 118 kW 1.8 TFSI and a 147 kW
2.0 TFSI variant. Both models are powered
by Audi’s innovative direct injection
engine technology, FSI, combined with
turbocharging resulting in class-leading
fuel efficiency. Both engines achieve
an outstanding 7.6 litres of fuel per 100
kilometres.
Priced from a highly-competitive $49,900,
this head-turning compact Cabriolet, seats
four adults. Globally, we expect to sell
20,000 units per year and in Australia we
project 350 units per year. These figures will
account for approximately 20% of A3 sales.
This new entry to the Audi family will no
doubt attract a niche within the consumer
market as it is ideal for Australian driving
conditions. The A3 Cabriolet symbolises
sophistication amongst its competitors as
there is strong growth and opportunity in
the convertible market. |

Progressive performance meets intelligent functionality in the
latest model of the prestigious A4 range – the spacious new
Audi A4 Avant. The extended erodynamic roof line plus the rear

With up to 1,430 litres in volume, the latest addition to the Audi
family has one of the largest luggage capacities in its class,

The new Audi A4 Avant will be launched with two powerful and
efficient engines. The 1.8 TFSI combines turbo charging with
Audi’s race-bred FSI direct fuel injection technology delivering
118 kW and returning 7.6 l/100km average fuel consumption.
The new 2.0 TDI has been given common-rail fuel injection,
the piezo injectors of which operate at a maximum pressure
of 1800 bar, plus a whole series of additional innovations. Both
engines feature multitronic continuously variable transmission,
which combines the advantages of a manual gearbox with those
of a conventional automatic transmission.
Audi also provides a variety of luxury options, such as an
electromechanically powered tailgate, a large glass panoramic
sunroof and the variable load area concept with rail system
known from the A6 Avant and Q7.

The A4 Avant range has consistently achieved impressive sales
growth along with increasing popularity and is clearly the segment
leader. Now the all new generation with its combination of
dynamic design, excellent driveability with precision, more power
with less consumption and the latest in innovative technology
will ensure the continued success of this model.
